The name has been adapted from a South Indian dish Avial, which is traditionally a mix of contrasting flavours blended together to form a unique and delectable experience. Similarly, the band has synced to perfection folk music from Kerala and alternative rock, making themselves a musical counterpart to the dish in modern times. In order to stay true to their roots, the band writes their songs in Malayalam, while their music is influenced by everything from traditional folk music to funk rock, hard rock and metal.

Next up is Advaita, an eclectic fusion band based in New Delhi, India. Put together the Sarangi, the tabla, the bass guitar, keyboards, guitars and drums, complimented perfectly by two of the most gifted Hindustani and Western vocalists and that is Advaita. Through Advaita, the raw and earthen sounds of Indian classical music have been revamped in a modern landscape, in harmony with rock and jazz elements. Their brand of contemporary ‘organic’ fusion has been lauded as one of the most original and path-breaking sounds to ever come out of the Indian underground music scene. They have successfully carved out a niche for themselves in the global music scene, while staying true to their characteristically Indian roots.

The final act of the night is Agnee. Agnee is an Pune-based folk rock band. As a band, it is characterized by three individual styles of composing and performing with Arijit having jazz-rock influences, Koko with classic rock, pop and Indian influences and Mohan with Carnatic and Hindustani classical influences. The three combine together to create a sound that has revolutionized the face of Indian rock music. Agnee’s music ranges from pure folk rock and pop-rock to straight up pop, and even incorporates elements of funk, jazz and Carnatic music.
